June 24th A Disc's Throw World Overall

Tuesday morning started with thunderstorms and our official weatherman, Jim Elsner, reported that the storms would blow over in about an hour and a half and for sure, they did! The tee off for the second round of disc golf at Vallarta- Ast Disc Golf Course for the "A Disc's Throw World Masters and Juniors" disc golf portion of the event started at 9:25 a.m. The sun was shining and within an hour it was about 90 degrees (unofficial temperature reported by this very hot disc golfer).

For lunch, Glass Nickel Pizza Company donated pizza of many kinds and incredible salads with "sooo many choices of dressings" as stated by Louie Cohn when she walked over to the table. (Later, Louie purchased a bottle of honey mustard salad dressing for $12 at the auction) Tim Mackey showed up, saw the salads and grabbed a container of salad with great delight!

Folks enjoyed the work of two massage therapists who were on site at exactly the right time, before the second round of golf. The weather was still scorching and though Team Wisconsin had about 4 five gallon jugs of water out on the course, it was difficult to keep them full; folks were trying to stay hydrated (is that a word?)

Due to the late golf start, discathon began at about 5:30 p.m. instead of 4:00 and finished up about 6:30 p.m. Discathon will finish up Wednesday morning at Hiestand Park.

It was a late start at Tripp Commons for the dinner and auction, but once everyone arrived, they had a wonderful dinner of spring mix salad, quesadillas or incredible pasta salad, a beverage, and a variety of excellent cookies. Paul Thompson and others who donated items for the auction had fun entertaining the audience while they tried to get the highest bids. You will have to wait for the stories until Team Members have time to write them up. Everyone had a great time and nearly $2000 was raised!
